Why Genetically Modified foods?

Someone would wonder why the government accepted the introduction of genetically modified foods (GM foods) to its people. Is it because of the bulk of the food? Which means that much can be produced in a small space and with smaller amount of input and therefore starvation is out of question. Yes it is a solution to starvation, but the introduction to other health problems such as obesity; and unemployment. I’m not saying that GM food is the only cause of Obesity, neither is it the only cause of unemployment; it is only one of the many causes. I agree that the GM food has helped the USA and other developed countries a lot in the fight to starvation which also affects mortality rate. But it has also led to high mortality rate due to obesity and other health issues caused by it.

Some would argue that the GM food is not bad for consumption; the food has to be approved before it gets to consumers. Who buys these GM foods? The poor and the middle class while the rich walks to whole foods. If it is good food then what is the need of whole foods? Everyone including the rich prefers cheap to expensive but the rich go further to compare price and quality while the poor have no option but to get the cheap irrespective of the quality. The government has not only failed in his duty to provide equal health care to its people but has also failed to protect the health of its nation.

How is unemployment related to the introduction of the GM foods? Come to think of the small scale farmers who produce organic food. These farmers use much labor to produce but when they take their produce to the market, they find the market overflowing with the cheap GM foods. Consequently the small scale farmer reduces his price to less than his production cost. To solve this problem, the farmer has to employ a few people or stop farming; either way, there will be unemployment issue. Should we say that the government has failed to perform its duties?
